PEORIA — A South Peoria man allegedly sent threatening e-mail messages to the Peoria Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard, saying the city's top cop should be "strung up by his pig toes."
Jason W. Slater, 30, of 2308 W. Ann St. also allegedly went on to state he put "mob hits" out on several of the department's high-ranking officials and that he was hunting the police with "night vision and scope," according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court on Friday.
The two profanity-filled e-mails were sent between 1:30 and 2 a.m. July 23 and threaten harm to city police, the chief and anyone who would get in Slater's way.
On Friday, just a week later, Slater appeared in federal court and was ordered held pending a bond hearing Tuesday. His appearance didn't suggest he was a man armed to the teeth and believed that "the only good cop was a dead cop."

Northbrook, Ill. – The Kirk for Senate campaign today called on Alexi Giannoulias to explain his decision to participate in a far left-wing conference that featured panels with Van Jones, marijuana legalization advocates and J-Street.
Last week, Giannoulias announced on his Facebook page that he would be “leading the Illinois Caucus” at the Netroots Nation convention in Las Vegas. The Netroots website showed Giannoulias confirmed to attend the conference’s candidate event as well.

USA: Chicago: "The conference takes place July 26-28 at Chicago's Downtown Magnificent Mile Marriott Hotel."
Are there any activists in Chicago area that might be able to demonstrate on Monday thru Wednesday? Please take a bunch of friends and a big banner and campaign outside of the hotel!
They banned LEAP from the drug conference!

Drug Conference
Jul 24 2010 04:38:12
I wish I was in Chicago to raise hell about this. To ban LEAP from this conference is a DEA decision as this "substance abuse" Conference is financed by US federal government.
This is a deliberate attempt on the part of fed gov to silence any kind of opposition to Prohibition. In this context, it makes any federally financed conference on substance abuse to be a complete and utter sham.
What is the message here from US federal government? They are, in effect, saying "OK our prohibition laws will fuck your life right up and then we'll discuss how to treat your problems that our prohibition laws have caused."
WELL TO HELL WITH THAT
If anti-prohibitionists are not welcome to attend the Conference INSIDE then we'll attend the Conference OUTSIDE - AS PROTESTERS.
CAMPAIGN - BIG BANNERS - LEGALIZE CANNABIS !!!
Jayelle
THE ONLY DANGEROUS THING ABOUT CANNABIS IS GETTING CAUGHT

Aurora -- A 17-year-old Aurora male was charged with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers questioned three people June 30 on Collica Cove.
Officers said the three parked along the street about 10:20 p.m. and told officers they were going to a party. A check of their car revealed drug paraphernalia, marijuana, a scale and grinder, according to police.
The 17-year-old was referred to Portage County Juvenile Court and was released to his mother. The other two were released without charges being filed.

Re:Police News: Juvenile charged after police find pot, drug tools
Jul 15 2010 22:27:15
Well after reading this I had to add discussion to the site articles, because I'm discussed with most media how they report on marijuana!
Marijuana tools, not only do they make this kid look like some kinda bad drug user, they also make him look like some kinda of thief or burglar!
He had marijuana, a plant that has never harmed anybody! No deaths from a thc overdose! THC is the active ingredient in marijuana that gets you high. So he was not harming anyone by having it.
The media and government make this 17 year old boy look like a hardened criminal, which will fuckin make it almost impossible for him to get a good education, or job over a fuckin' plant.
They are still using fear tactics!
Fuck'em

Green for governor
Rich Whitney’s long shot campaign
By Patrick Yeagle
If you knew where to look you might have seen him – bearded, bespectacled and biking through Springfield. Looking more like a college professor than a politician, the Green Party candidate for governor, Rich Whitney, spent May 20 through 28 riding his bike and various trains on a 650-mile tour across the state to promote sustainable transportation – getting around while minimizing environmental impact.
